Garmin Vívosmart HR+ Full Review
After doing the unboxing video (if you haven’t seen it yet I recommend you watch it) I was trying to connect the Garmin watch to the Garmin app on my phone and man, I was trying to connect it for about 1 hour until I realized that I was connecting vivosmart HR and not the plus as it was not on the list! But then I found the ‘Browse all compatible devices’ button and then found the vivosmart HR+. After that little problem the setup process felt much easier. The Garmin app itself seems rather dark, dull and quite confusing to navigate through. I also tried the Fitbit app and that was so much more livelily and colourful. The Garmin app still does have a lot of features like how well I slept the night before, or your monthly workouts, and you can also see your insights to compare your activities to others. There is so much more, if you dig deep into the app.
With the Garmin app out of the way lets now just focus on the VivoSmart HR+. So the watch has a very small form factor but it does have a thick beam. However, once you button it on, you will not even know that the beam was thick in the first place. The watch fits so comfortably on your wrist that I can wear the watch for a week without taking it off. The VivoSmart HR+ has a nice rubbery strap that does not irritate my skin even thought I have very sensitive skin.
The straps are non detachable though. The Vivo also has a Water rating of 5 ATM which means that the watch is water resistance for up to 50 meters. It’s also very nice to navigate through the menu as it has a touch screen interface, and a button to go into a different menu and start/stop activities. So what can you do with this watch? Well to start with you will be able to check the time and date of course! You will also be able to check how many steps you have done, have many floors you have climbed, how many calories you have burned, the distance traveled, play/pause skip a track/go back a track, see what you heart rate is and your average resting heart rate, and even check the weather just by swiping though the screens.
The VivoSmart HR+ can also track your run, walk, cardio and even how well you slept. If you have lost your phone and it’s in the Bluetooth radius you will be able to find you phone with a somewhat of an alarm noise. The watch is also shock resistant which is great for people who can be a clumsy from time to time. The Vivo also has smart notifications which only worked once or twice for me and then didn’t work at all no matter what I tried. The battery life on the VivoSmart HR+ is nothing spectacular. It only lasts me about 3-4 days and the charger is also not magnetic which I was hoping it was going to be. Probable the question you were all waiting for, is it really worth buying? For just under $170 USD which could be a bit too much for some people the watch does have a lot of useful features and can be really great for people that love to exercise from 3-7 days a week. For any sport you play from basketball to swimming this watch should be a must have!!
