Philips BT50B Review

This is a mini portable speaker that can fit in the palm of your hand. This speaker only costs $20.00 on Amazon.com. On Amazon UK, it starts from £25.00 for the black colour, price may change for other colours. I will leave the links for the speaker to both Amazon.com and Amazon UK in the description below.

In the box of the BT50B comes a small USB to Micro USB charger and some very thick manuals and safety information. The Speaker works with any device via Bluetooth 4.0 or below. Connecting to the Bluetooth speaker does not take to long. The BT50 only weights 0.09 kg and the width of the speaker is 6.1.cm. The depth of the speaker is also 6.1 and its height is 7.6 cm. Once fully charged the speaker lasts about 6 hours.

The Speaker itself has a rubbery material around it that makes it very nice to hold. At the top of the speaker is a plastic cage to let out the the sound. At the bottom of the speaker is a little reset button and also two rubber pads that prevent the speaker from sliding around. Just below the Philips logo is a black strip that has a LED light that will go blue when bluetooth is enabled and white when charging or when enabled (audio in). Also there is a switch that changes the mode of the speaker, from (off) to (audio in) and then to (bluetooth pairing). Next to that switch is a button that you will need to hold for 3 second before pairing to a new or different device. To the back of the speaker is a charging port along with a 3.5 audio IN port.

The sound that comes out of the speaker is crisp and nice to listen, however it doesn’t have any bass and when the volume is loud the sound gets distorted.

Overall, the BT50B is a very nice ruggered portable bluetooth speaker to place in your bag and go. However, I would prefer just a little more bass.
