Brainwavz BLU-200 Review
The Brainwavz BLU-200 are earphones that are fully wireless. But are they better the any normal pair?
Wired headphones are great until you try using them for exercise. If you're serious about fitness, you have probably already damaged half a dozen pairs of wired headphones and are in the market for a Bluetooth option. These tend to be expensive, and finding a pair that offers good value for money can be challenging.
Meet Brainwavz, a company that makes good affordable wireless headphones and earphones, like the Blu-200. This product costs $55, which is actually quite affordable when compared to other Bluetooth headphones and earphones.
The Brainwavz Blu-200 uses a flat, tangle-free cable, which is only long enough to comfortably stretch between your ears. The cable also has an inline three-button remote that works with iOS, Android and Windows Phone, and is compatible with PC's too. The earphones also have an unusually large plastic housings which tends to come out of my ears when I exercise. I even have a slight dent on the right earphone. I tried the fins that the Blu-200 came with, but after an hour they started hurting my ears. Then I tried the foam ear tips and they were great but during the testing the foam tips ended up ripping a little. But I can still use them.
How about the performance?
The earphone sounded surprising good and can get really loud. I was also pleased with how the Blu-200's bass had just the right amount of punch.
You will be able to use BLU-200 up to 10m from the source, but I wasn't even able to get 6m for the source. Maybe that's just my pair. The Brainwavz has a 60mAh battery that should offer around four hours of playback time. Connecting the Blu-200 to my devices was almost instantly, which is a big positive for me. Brainwavz also say that you can pair the Blu-200 with two devices at the same time.
Conclusion
Brainwavz has delivered another product that offers good value for money. Its battery life, at four hours, is quite good for an in-ear Bluetooth headset. The Blu-200 offers strong bass and decent highs However, it's a bit bulky and has issues with maintaining clean Bluetooth connections in certain situations. These minor issues aside, the Blu-200 is a decent headset and is well worth its $55 price tag.
